What is ISPM15:  ISPM15 (International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15) is an International Phytosanitary Measure developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) that directly addresses the need to treat wood packaging materials of a thickness greater than 6mm, used to ship products between countries.  Its main purpose is to prevent the international transport and spread of disease and insects that could negatively affect plants or ecosystems.

ISPM15 affects all wood packaging materials (pallets, cases, crates, dunnages etc.) requiring that they be debarked and then heat-treated and stamped or branded with a mark of compliance.  Wood packaging materials must be debarked prior to being heat-treated to meeting ISPM15 regulations.  The debarking component of the regulation is to prevent the re-infestation of insects.

Due to global transport, one single untreated pallet could cause extensive damage and can endanger the tree population of a country and threaten a whole ecosystem.  The ISPM15 heat-treatment process involves methodically placing the pallets in a kiln and heating them to a core temperature of 56°C for a minimum duration of 30 minutes.  This process kills any wood-boring insects that are likely to attack standing plants.

We have robust and rigorous controls around the release criterion for our heat-treated pallets.  We have the largest heat-treatment and drying facility in Pakistan.  We are the only heat treated pallets manufacturer in Karachi to have separately licensed manufacturing plants providing our customers security of supply and foolproof contingency planning.

Our facility is tested and approved by Department of Plant Protection Pakistan and are also subject to intensive calibration and preventative maintenance schedules through our ISO systems.
